Getting started
What you need
Ten minutes and three things: a way to see your bank charges, an inbox where receipts live, and somewhere your bookkeeping happens. Receipt Pair walks you through each in the onboarding wizard after you register.
Step 1: connect a bank
The bank connection is what makes Receipt Pair different from a scanner: it starts from the charge, then finds the receipt. Three ways in:
- Wise — paste a read-only API token from your Wise account. The wizard validates it before saving.
- European bank via GoCardless — pick your country and bank, approve once, and transactions sync on their own. Available when enabled for your workspace.
- Statement file — works for any bank in the world. Export a CSV or PDF statement and drop it in; you will see a preview of parsed rows before anything is saved.
You can also forward your bank's own purchase-alert emails to your Receipt Pair address — charges created from alerts get the same matching treatment.
Step 2: connect an inbox
This is where receipts already are. Connect Gmail or Outlook with OAuth (read-only — Receipt Pair searches and downloads attachments, never sends or deletes), or any other mailbox over IMAP. Every workspace also gets its own inbound email address: forward receipts to it, or give it to vendors directly, and attachments file themselves.
Step 3: choose where receipts go
Pick an accounting destination — e-conomic, Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage — or simply use a capture email address. Onboarding ends with a real test receipt sent to your books so you can see the whole loop working before you rely on it.
What happens next
Receipt Pair watches for new charges, searches your inbox for matching attachments, reads each document (text extraction first, OCR when needed), and pairs the best candidate. Matched receipts queue for a one-click review; charges with no receipt land on the missing report. You approve, it files to your books.
Catching up on history
New workspace, old mess? Use the backfill button on the Missing view to search your inbox for every undocumented charge from the past months — or drop a pile of exported PDFs and photos onto the Imports view and let matching sort it out.
